DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM REGULATIONS

Scope

1 - This regulation covers the faculties of Eskişehir Osmangazi University.

Purpose
 2 - The purpose of the double major program is to enable students who complete their major undergraduate program to simultaneously pursue a second undergraduate degree.

 3 - The double major program is finalized upon the recommendation of the relevant department board, faculty board, and the decision of the university senate.

Application

 4 - Quotas for double major programs are determined at the beginning of each academic year by the faculties to which the relevant departments are affiliated, finalized by a decision of the senate, and announced to students. The annual total number of new students admitted to the double major program cannot exceed 20% of the total number of first-year, first-semester students in that program for that year.

 5 - Students may apply to a double major program at the earliest, and at the latest, at the beginning of the third or fifth semester of their major undergraduate program.

 6 - To apply for a double major program, students must have completed all credit-bearing courses in their major undergraduate program before the application deadline, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00, and be in the top 20% of their class ranking at the time of application.

 7 - Admission to a double major program is completed upon approval by the relevant department and approval by the faculty board. Students must enroll in the double major program within the registration week.


Program

 8 - A double major program consists of a minimum of 36 credits.

 9 - The separation of a student's major and double major programs is essential. The student's academic standing and graduation in the major program will not be affected in any way by the double major program. A separate transcript will be issued for the double major program.

 10 - The faculty board determines the equivalent courses in the student's major and double major programs at the time of admission to the program. Courses deemed equivalent in both programs will be reflected on the transcript and will be included in the cumulative grade point average.

 11 - A student may not enroll in more than one double major program or in both a double major and a minor program.

 12 - A student may voluntarily withdraw from the double major program.

 13 - Students in a double major program cannot transfer to a double major program without meeting the requirements of the "Regulation on Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer".


Success and Graduation

Article 14 - A student's GPA in the double major program may fall below 2.00 once throughout the entire double major program. Students whose GPA falls below 2.00 for a second time will be dismissed from the double major program. Students who fail to take courses from the double major program for two consecutive semesters will be dismissed from the double major program. Students dismissed from the double major program will be provided with a transcript showing the courses taken in the double major program upon request.

 15 - A student who qualifies for graduation in the major program will also receive a double major diploma if they complete the double major program within the allotted timeframe with a GPA of at least 2.00. A double major diploma will not be awarded to a student who has not qualified for graduation in the major program.

 16 - The student registration process for students enrolled in the double major program who graduate from the major program is handled by the faculty where the double major program is registered.

 17 - Students enrolled in a double major program must pay only the tuition fee for this major until they graduate from their major program, and the tuition fee for the double major program after graduation.

 18 - Students who qualify for graduation from a major program but fail to complete their second major program may have their study period extended for a maximum of two semesters by the decision of the administrative board of the faculty hosting the double major program.

 19 - Students who qualify for graduation from a major program may receive their major diploma even if they fail to complete the double major program.

 20 - Double major programs will not be implemented between the teacher training programs of the Faculty of Education and programs of other faculties. However, double major programs may be implemented between two separate teacher training programs within the Faculty of Education, subject to approval from the Council of Higher Education.

 21 - The Eskişehir Osmangazi University Senate adopted this directive by decision number 35/02 dated December 4, 2013.

Temporary Article: 1- The provisions of the Double Major Second Degree Program directive, accepted by the Senate decision dated 11.12.2002 and numbered 34/1, shall apply to students accepted to Double Major programs before the 2010-2011 academic year.
